PBA took care of business on Saturday night in Kelowna, dispatching the University of Fraser Valley 6-0 in the semi-final of the 2017 CCBC Championships. With last night’s win the Prairie Baseball Academy moved into the final and await the winner of Okanagan College and Thompson Rivers University who play at 10:00am today. The team will look to secure their 7th straight CCBC Championship on Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm PST.
Tanner Jesson-Dalton was given the ball by coach Hubka on Saturday night and he did not disappoint. The sophomore right-hander was outstanding throwing a complete game shutout to propel the team to the final on Sunday. Dalton gave up only 4 hits, 1 BB while striking out 6 Cascade hitters. It has been an incredible two years for Dalton in the PBA program and what a way to go out in his last performance of a great two year career. Dalton has signed to play at Sacramento State University next season.
On offense Dylan Flasch led off the bottom of the 1st with a homerun, which ended up being the winning run of the ballgame. Flasch continued to swing the bat well in the CCBC Tournament, he was 3-4 with 2 runs, and 2 RBI’s on the night. Other notables were: Eric Davies who was 2-4 with 2 runs and an RBI, Dalton Wells picked up 2 runs, and Brett Semeniuk and Austin Schibler had a hit a piece to keep their averages well over .400 in the tournament.
Sunday will surely be a memorable day, as PBA will fight it out for their 7th straight CCBC Championship. It has been over 2100 days since any other team has left this tournament with the trophy, and on Sunday the PBA boys will hopefully finish another incredible year by raising up that trophy once again and bringing it back to Lethbridge!
