2019 CCBC Championships This Weekend!

It has been a difficult CCBC regular season for the PBA Varsity team, but that means nothing heading into this weekend. The 2019 CCBC Championships start Thursday in Kamloops, BC. This will be the first time since 2010 PBA enters this tournament without being the defending champions. PBA’s streak of seven consecutive championships was broken in 2018, as Okanagan College took home the title. This year’s coaching staff knows that every CCBC tournament is different, you’re going to need great pitching, timely hitting and a little bit of luck along the way to finish the season with a win.

 

Anyone who has ever attended a CCBC Championship tournament knows it is always an exciting event. The roller coaster of emotions, highs and lows are incredible. The Prairie Baseball Academy has experienced some of the most amazing baseball finishes in recent memory. Walk-off, come from behind wins. Extra innings, clutch hitting, timely defense, we’ve seen it all. We know hoisting that trophy is unforgettable, we also know being the favourite and losing, is gut-wrenching. Fortunately a handful of returning players are back in 2019 ready to get their second crack at hoisting the CCBC Championship trophy come Sunday. The immense pressure of that streak is gone, the team is coming in a little more under the radar, an unfamiliar, but exciting place to be.

 

The format has changed this year. Instead of round robin, 2019’s version will be a double elimination bracket. It all gets underway Thursday in Kamloops, BC. See full tournament bracket on our social media pages. (Twitter & Facebook)

5:30pm - All team BBQ @ Norbrock Stadium

7:00pm - Player and Team Awards

7:30pm - Home Run Derby

 

**Note that parents and guests are invited to witness the awards and home run derby free of charge. There will be a concession and beer garden open for their convenience.

 

 

Thursday:

7:00pm - Opening Ceremonies. There will be a short program on the field, followed by the national anthem.
