Weekend Wrap-Uphttp://prairiebaseball.ca/news/?article_id=188 The Prairie Baseball Academy finished up their opening weekend against the Vauxhall Jets, and the St. FX Academy on Sunday afternoon. Coach Hubka split the program into two even teams and it was the coaching staff’s first chance to see a lot of new faces in game action. Double headers took place at Lloyd Nolan Yard, and Spitz Stadium on Saturday and Sunday. In total the program went 6-1-1 for a very successful start to the fall season. The coaching staff will have the week to work with the players and clean up some mistakes. The boys will be right back in action at the Keith Jorgensen Memorial Tournament this weekend.
The opening weekend is in the books, and what a beautiful weekend it was. Temperatures were in the mid-twenties both days, fantastic days for fall baseball. As always there were some nervous ball players on Saturday, it was the first chance for all new players to show the coaching staff their skills. The staff saw a lot of good things, but there is also plenty to work on. PBA 1 went 0-1-1 on Saturday against Vauxhall, but bounced back with two wins against St. FX on Sunday. PBA 2 finished the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record, winning two, one-run ball games against Vauxhall on Sunday at Spitz Stadium. The weather for the start of this week is looking quite ominous, so the boys will have to workout indoors until later in the week.
Looking forward to this weekend, the boys will be back in action at the Keith Jorgensen Memorial Tournament. This tournament will have three separate divisions, with both PBA 1 and PBA 2 playing in the Iron Springs Division. Joining PBA will be: Vauxhall Jets, Team Saskatchewan and the Calgary Junior Dinos. In case you missed it last week please see the remaining schedule for the fall below. Make sure you mark October 12/13 down in your calendars. PBA will be hosting the College of Southern Idaho for the first time ever. We are very excited to have a program we play year in and year out down south, come up here to see what the Prairie Baseball Academy has to offer!
