PBA - November UpdateThe boys packed up all the baseball equipment at the end of October, but they’ve been hard at work with the famous PBA strength and conditioning program. The boys will continue working out until the end of the school year and Christmas break. Each player will have a one on one meeting with the coaching staff before they return home, where they will discuss roles within the program come springtime. We also have our annual poker tournament coming up and as a staff we are very excited about our 25th anniversary banquet at the start of February.
It is crazy to think that it has been close to a month since the fall outdoor season wrapped up. Team Blue took home the title of Fall World Series Champions. For the first time we played the final game of the World Series under the lights at Spitz Stadium, an idea the coaching staff has discussed continuing in the future. Since the World Series the boys have been extremely hard at work with the PBA strength and conditioning program. Anyone who has been part of this program knows how physically and mentally demanding the program is. The boys will continue working out for the next four and a half weeks, until the Christmas break. During this time, each player will have his one on one with the coaching staff to determine which team they will play on in the spring. The Varsity program will start their season in Las Vegas in mid-February, and the Junior Varsity team will start their season in Lethbridge in the middle of March. Both schedules are being finalized and will be posted to our website in the next couple of weeks.
The PBA Winter Camp program started up again on November 11th. As is the case every year we have well over 100 campers participating, ages 4-17 years old. Each night a group of current PBA players helps instruct these camps giving back to their community. We have been running this camp program for close to a decade and our staff truly believes these camps are one of the many reasons youth baseball in Lethbridge is so strong year after year. If you missed your chance to sign-up please contact us and we can help get your son or daughter into camp.
We have a couple of fundraising events coming up. November 30th we will host our 10th annual Alumni Poker Tournament. The buy-in is $60.00, half of your buy-in goes to the PBA Alumni Association who in turn uses that money for scholarships in the spring. The other half of the buy-in goes to the pot to be distributed to winners based on how many players play. It is always an exciting event and we encourage anyone in the PBA family to come out and enjoy a great night! If you are interested in playing in our poker tournament please contact us at [email protected] or 403-320-1302.
Our second fundraising event is our Celebration of Baseball Banquet. This year the banquet will be February 1, 2020 at the Lethbridge Lodge. We are celebrating our 25th year as a program and will be introducing the first inductees into the PBA Hall of Fame. We would love to see as many familiar faces in attendance as possible. This program exists because of the 25 years of alumni and family who helped build it to what it is today! Each inductee will have an opportunity to speak on what PBA means to them and how it shaped their lives. More information and tickets will be released shortly. Stay tuned to our website and social media for more updates.
As always, thank you for your support of the Prairie Baseball Academy. Do not hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected] or 403-320-1302.
