Thursday proved to be a very good day for the Prairie Baseball Academy. In the first game of the day PBA downed U of C 7-4. The boys jumped out to a quick start scoring six runs in the bottom of the first. Runs were tough to come by the rest of the game. Nobody stood out on offence, but the team got contributions from all parts of their line up. Josh Wray and Troy Blad were both 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Dylan McKenna was also 1-3 with 2 RBI’s and a run scored. Sophomore pitcher Ben Kennedy threw six quality innings, giving up four hits and striking out three.
In the second game of the day the Prairie Baseball Academy took on VIBI in the night game at Spitz Stadium. Sophomore pitcher Pat Kelley was fantastic as he returned from a back injury to throw 5 1/3 innings striking out 7 VIBI hitters. Freshman Logan McDonald threw the final 1 2/3 innings for the Dawgs. Hits were again tough to come by, Josh Wray led the way on offence going 2-2 with 2 RBI’s. The teams defence was excellent all day, seemingly making all the routine plays in the infield, and not letting U of C or VIBI get anything rolling on offence.
PBA will look to remain unbeaten as they take on Okanagan College on Friday at 8:00pm. Sophomore pitcher Clark Grisbrook will take to the mound for the Dawgs.
In the only other game of the day Okanagan College downed TRU 6-2.
