The Prairie Baseball Academy Junior Varsity team has had a great start to the 2016 season. The first games were not scheduled until March 12th, but with the weather we have had here in Southern Alberta the boys have had four games already, and four more are scheduled for this weekend.
February 17th the JV team played a doubleheader against the UofC Dinos at Lloyd Nolan yard. The boys were able to come away from the day with a split. It was a very encouraging sign considering the Dinos play in the same CCBC conference as the PBA Varsity team. Last weekend the JV team played a doubleheader against the Vauxhall Jets on Sunday. Once again they split on the day. Winning the first game 10-9 coming back from a 7-1 deficit early in the game. The second game was also close, and one bad inning led to the 7-5 defeat. Sitting with a 2-2 record before the end of February is a very encouraging sign for the Junior Varsity coaching staff.
This weekend the PBA JV team will host the Okotoks Dawgs Black team for a double header starting at noon on Saturday. They will also host the Vauxhall Jets on Sunday for a doubleheader starting at noon. Okotoks and Vauxhall are the two top high school programs in Alberta, and two of the top programs in all of Canada. The Prairie Baseball Academy is proud to be able to compete with teams like this week in and week out.
At the time of writing this article the weather is suppose to be very nice for the first weekend in March. Saturday is calling for 15 degrees and sunny, and Sunday 12 degrees. Come on out and enjoy some March baseball at Lloyd Nolan Yard. Admission is free, and we appreciate all of the support from our great community of Lethbridge.
